In addition to the prior post, let me start a new thread - we may want to add a thread for this one and a wiki later after we get it tested as it seems to be a useful addition to our services.
This one is called BBP Drive. The idea behind this, is it lets you host public files on the BBP network which are accessible anywhere around the world, using your BBP public key. If you have the private key, you can edit, add, delete the files. If you have the Public key you can access the hosted: songs, images, CDN files (think javascript library files, htm files etc). We provide the infrastructure to host the file publicly. It is basically your personal NAS drive hosted on the BBP network.
To get started go BBP core, and click Window | Receiving addresses and right click one of your addresses, and edit the name to be something like "BBPDrive". Then copy the public address to the clipboard and go to the console and unlock the wallet and type 'dumpprivkey paste_pub_key_here'. Once you have the private key copy it to the clipboard and create a new file called
C:\inetpub\wwwroot\bms\Extensions\BBPDrive\settings.txt. Save the setting like this:
privkey=your_priv_key_here
Go to the left menu of BBP core, and click Extensions. Let the extensions upgrade to at least 1.61 for BBP Drive.
Then launch the BBP Drive. Note : Launch the Last BBP Drive on the list (the one prior is not the latest).
You should get an explorer window (this is very similar to BBP creating a USB flash drive for you). Then create a subfolder in that folder called Test.
Paste something like an image in the folder.
Here is an example of mine:
https://api.biblepay.org/Drive/GetDirectory/BFJZ9E/TestGo ahead and click on a couple of these images.
By using the SAN drive, you get a WYSIWIG representation of Your file structure on the internet. Which is very useful for hosting child letters, static CDN files, songs, anything.
In the future we will require the user to Stake at the public key a certain amount of BBP (probably $5 per month per terabyte stored or something to that effect) but for now its free to try.
When testing please test all of these operations:
Store a file - verify the window shows "Caught up" and the file is hosted.
Delete a file.
Edit a file. Maybe try an HTM file while editing the contents.
Rename a file.
Add a subdirectory. You should be able to see the subdirectory on the web as well.
Remove a subdirectory.
Copy a file from one subfolder to another subfolder.
Please paste your web URL here and Ill click on it and verify it.
Addendum:
One real world use case I am using it for: to host the cameroon-one orphan bio (their URL went to a 404):
https://api.biblepay.org/Drive/BFJZ9E/Bio/daniela.htmI modified the text to be v1.1 and re-saved it and within a second I could see the updated version on the WWW.
So its quite useful for web developers too.
