Troubleshooting new setup please
« on: April 13, 2018, 04:51:50 pm »
Hi Everyone,

Can I have some help please?

In the last 2 weeks I have setup biblepay wallet and Rosetta@home.

The basic problem I have is that my recieving addresses for the 2 computers are showing no statistics on purepool, and I am not recieving any coins from POW. PODC seems fine.

I setup my Windows PC first following the guide on the website. My wallet seems to have connected to rosetta@home ok, and I have a CPID. I am running both the wallet configured for purepool, and the BOINC client on this PC.

Once I had my CPID, I installed the ubuntu cli wallet onto my linux PC, using a copy of my wallet.dat file off the windows PC. I also have the BOINC client installed on the linux PC, and linked it to my rosetta@home account ok using my weak account key.

Both computers and my phone all show up in my rosetta@home account as workers, and as doing work ok.

When I run exec getboincinfo on either computer I a get an identical return as below:
{
  "Command": "getboincinfo",
  "CPID": "e25d9a0ba5e5063d2620fe040c361932",

Thankyou.

Are you aware that you only need one wallet and can run only Boinc solo on all other computers?

If you are using two wallets, please follow the instructions shown here:
https://www.biblepay-central.org/en/mining-how-to/mine-desktop/

Quote
You need to add the following line to the biblepay.conf of all wallets except your main one: utxooverride=-1
This makes sure that only your main wallet sends PODC-updates

Also, I see that your UTXOWeight is only 16. Is this correct? I think it's to low to receive PODC rewards.

For the rest your data seem correct. I hope that someone else can help you with that.

Hi jaapgvk,

Thanks for replying.

I chose to run two wallets initially as I wanted to mine more BBP initially to improve my UTXO weight, then focus more on PODC.

I have decided now just to purchase some BBP instead to increase my UTXOWeight.

Thanks for the tip re the extra config file line, I had missed that.

I have now changed over to the biblepay pool to see if everything works ok on that pool, or if I still have a problem.

Thanks again.

Hi there! I have pretty much the same situation. Running Rosetta and Pool Mining for about 3-4 days already. No POW or PODC mining payouts at all. The address is not found on the pool (miner statistics are still blank), no matter how much CPU I dedicate (tried from 850 to 3000 hashps). I tried both main address and address created for mining as described here (https://www.biblepay-central.org/en/mining-how-to/mine-desktop/) in "Setup Proof of Power Mining" section.
I'm pretty sure there is something wrong with the pool or problems with instructions, I'm not a first ever time miner.

I've read that "There is something called Staking in use with Biblepay and Rosetta@home" that gives additional bonus to earnings. I thought I still should receive some mining rewards without any bonuses, right? (I have close to zero balance of BiblePay) Or is it a mandatory to have some kind of recommended minimum balance to receive at least minimum mining rewards?

I hope such issues haven't already diverted some of new members from BiblePay. Obviously the more members there will be, the better the impact.

Some of my Rosetta info:

Total_RAC: 870.13
TEAM: 15044
TaskWeight: 100
UTXOWeight: 1

Total Payments (One Day): 0
Total Payments (One Week): 0
Magnitude (One-Day): 0

I have relatively modern i7 8700K CPU, about 30% of its capacity is dedicated for Rosetta computing.

I have now changed over to the biblepay pool to see if everything works ok on that pool
I tried that pool and it looks like pool sees me mining. Although there are 2 concerns. First of all, new mining instructions suggest using new pure pool. Secondy statistics data

Blocks Mined (24 hour period):   3 (1%)

doesn't look good. It basically means that the hashing power of https://pool.biblepay.org/ is very low and in order to get average reward from the mining on this pool you'll have to stay there for a long time. With current situation it doesn't look promising considering the possibility of more miners migrating to purepool.

You need some magnitude for the pool to accept your shares. To have magnitude you have to be in a superblock (using Boinc mining).

If you could give me your CPID (for example by using the command 'exec getboincinfo'), I'll check for you (or you can check yourself on pool.biblepay.org -> reports -> superblock view.

If you give me your wallet address, I'll send you 1000 BBP so you can start staking  :)

Hi again jaapgvk,

So basically you can't mine using POW to receive BBP unless you have enough BBP to stake, and there are no rewards from PODC unless you have enough BBP to stake?

So to start using POW or getting rewards from PODC you first need to get enough BBP to be able to stake through other means ie buy some?

Looking at the superblock view, is being listed on the page enough to know you are in a superblock? my CPID is e25d9a0ba5e5063d2620fe040c361932

Thankyou.

Hi Jaapgvk,

Would you mind giving me 1000 BBP just to stake and see if this fixes everything? I am waiting for some money to clear on BTC markets to I can buy some BBP on C-CEX. I will transfer it back then.

If not that is perfectly fine, (I feel rude for asking) I will just wait. My address is BMsoWyjHFmte2s4mABVUS5CdeZVKtdTZwA.

On the biblepay pool home page it shows the hash rate for my 2 PC's (on purepool I ccan't see anything), and it shows that I have 33 shares between the 2 PC's.

On the leaderboard is shows 99.97 Error percentage and message CPID HAS NO MAGNITUDE. What does this mean?

Good luck GoodDeed, I hope jaapgvk's offer help's fix your problem.

Sure, I've sent you 1000 BBP :)

Code: [Select]

I have to get back to you on the magnitude. I thought that you didn't need to stake to be able to have magnitude. But I'm not entirely sure about that.

So, yes, I think that you maybe need to stake at least 5% (1BBP/RAC) to receive heat-mining rewards? I'm going to ask someone else :)

Also, the writing of letters to orphans (in the pool) can earn you nice amounts of BBP. Rob actually requested budget to make the reward about 1000 BBP per written letter, which is really nice!

The 'CPID HAS NO MAGNITUDE' error is exactly what I mean. The reason that the error isn't 100%, is that after 15 minutes the algorithm allows to mine a block even when you don't have magnitude (or a CPID). That is to ensure that blocks keep getting mined every 7 minutes on average :)

Hi jaapgvk,

Thank you! I have manually added the staking line to my wallets config file for the new balance. IT will e interesting to hear back what you find out about those other items.

Thankyou for mentioning the letters. I haven't done that yet, just been focussed on getting the POW/PODC all working correctly.

After making the changes, 30 mins later my magnitude is still 0 and my exec stakebalance returns 0.

do I just need to wait to let it all sync up?

Thankyou

Let's see...

I have an answer to the magnitude question here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2388064.msg34840992#msg34840992

You need magnitude to receive PoW rewards, and in order to get magnitude, you need to stake some BBP.

You actually don't need to add a line to your biblepay.conf to stake (I think this is true for wallets above version 1.1.1.7.). The wallet will automatically send as much as needed (or everything it can) to stake.

What you can try for now is send the following command:
Code: [Select]
exec podcupdate
This will make sure that your BBP gets staked. Just make sure you don't receive any errors when you use this command (it can take up to minute for the command to execute).

After that, you have to wait a minimum of six blocks for the network to see your update (so wait for about an hour after sending the update, and then execute 'exec boincinfo'.
It should show the updated uxto-amount :)

Thank you for your answer. In the superblock view I located myself and some others with similar characteristics (my CPID is a5f5e15f43f32c82c05747716d305bda). I wonder if they are planning to do something about zero magnitude or just helping Rosetta with calculations no matter what.  If some initial BBP balance is needed, I think it is good to include such information in the mining tutorial, otherwise some people might get upset. It is perfectly fine that the mining algorithm includes combined PoS against botnet attacks. Totally understandable for project, especially low capitalisation project.

Still, the information about PoDC is not common and may appear a bit complicated. I feel like asking for BBP from you is too much. I'll try to get BBP from the exchange. Also it would give me a chance to follow the steps of any new member. I'll write here if I face further issues  ;)

I don't mind giving you BBP :) Consider it compensation for our guide not being coherent enough.

Did you follow this guide?
https://www.biblepay-central.org/en/mining-how-to/

And do you have suggestions on how to improve it?

On this page, should it maybe say something like: "You need to stake at least 1BBP/RAC to be able to get magnitude, and you need magnitude in order to be able to receive PoW rewards."
https://www.biblepay-central.org/en/mining-how-to/staking-and-statistics/

I would appreciate the help from someone who is just starting out :)

Hi jaapgvk,

Could you please send me a receiving address, and I will return the 1000BBP.  I was able to buy a decent amount of BBP today to have a reasonable stake.

Thank you for all your help. I will have a look at the guides as well over the next day or so, as I found it a real challenge to set this all up.

I think it could possibly be a bit better for Newbie's to follow. Maybe just a more detailed intro, or at least more information about you needing more BBP than what you need initially to link the wallet to Rosetta@home.

Will let you know my thoughts.

GoodDeed - How are you going? Have you made progress?
