Reddit Advertising
« on: January 16, 2018, 04:16:07 PM »
I propose that we run a Reddit ad targeting specific cryptocurrency subreddits for a month
(starting after an exchange goes back up for us)

Reddit Advertising: https://about.reddit.com/advertise/

Max bid price for 1,000 impressions can be in range of $0.20 - $100, default they fill in is $2.00

The ad is just a picture, a headline and a link or text post

The picture would be our logo

===

Im not sure about the headline, this is my idea so far:
main features, call to action and emoji to make it stick out more

✝ BiblePay (BBP) ✝ | New Cryptocurrency | 10% Charity | Masternodes | ASIC-Resistant | CPU Mining Only | Already Sponsoring 180+ Orphans Monthly | Find out more!

Some emojis we could use: ✝ (looks like forum doesnt support the 3 other emojis I linked, another cross, praying and halo)

===

These are the subreddits I would recommend targeting:

Altcoin Investors/Traders:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/ ---- 482,858 readers - 43,501 users here now
https://www.reddit.com/r/altcoin/ -----------------   47,860 readers -     535 users here now

Other Cryptocurrencies:
https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/ ------ 18,710 readers - 2,660 users here now
https://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/ ------- 32,056 readers - 2,649 users here now
https://www.reddit.com/r/groestlcoin/ ---   4,793 readers -    111 users here now

(We could target other masternode, asic resistant and cpu only coins as well)

Not sure about:

Day Traders / ICOs
https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoMarkets/ --- 105,140 readers  - 3,111 users here now
https://www.reddit.com/r/icocrypto/ -----------   29,886 readers -     329 users here now

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Cash:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/ -------- 671,955 readers - 28,456 users here now
https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/ ------------- 159,454 readers -    5,186 users here now

In future we could also target christian and charity/nonprofit subreddits
(the headline/messaging would need to be totally different though)

===

Examples of my previous advertising in Bitcointalk threads towards miners, traders and investors:
http://forum.biblepay.org/index.php?topic=68.0

===

QUESTIONS:

1. What is a good max bid price for 1,000 impressions?
(default value they give is $2.00 per 1,000 impressions)

1a. For Reddit is there a way to see what other people are bidding? I couldnt find it, but I know google adwords somewhat shows that information.

2. Should we do a link post or a text post? (a text post could have multiple links)
2a. If a link post, what link should we send people to? (the main website? main bitcointalk post?)

3. What subreddits should we target?

4. What should the headline be?

5. How much should we spend a day for 30 days?
(default value they give is $20 a day, and it can go up to 20% more, so $24 a day * 30 = $720 for a month
which would be 360k impressions assuming $2 bid price per 1,000 impressions)

Z. Anything else I missed, should consider? Any other feedback, concerns, etc?

I'm not an expert in advertising at all, so I can't really comment on the questions about cost, but I like the suggestions on the subreddits we should advertise on.

Advertising on christian and charity subreddits could absolutely be tried in my opinion. I can imagine there are also crypto-enthusiasts to be found there.

Is there a way to get feedback (amount of clicks etc) when you advertise on reddit? We could try a bread campaign to start with, with a statistically fair amount of advertisements, and see which subreddits get the most clicks.

Also: do we need a banner for this?

I just checked the Dashboard for the Reddit ad website, I found this:
Status, Impressions, eCPM, Clicks, CPC, Spend

eCPM = Effective Cost per Thousand Impressions
CPC = Cost per Click

Also: do we need a banner for this?

We will not need a banner, just a Logo and a Headline and potentially a Paragraph with links depending on which route we go,
either Its a Text Post or a Link Post (They click the headline and go directly to a post with more info, or they click the headline and go directly to our link (website, etc))

Im open to doing either and also trying both

=====

Now that we are back live on an exchange open to everyone, Id like to get the ball rolling again on advertising/marketing,

Assuming all the other proposals pass, there is 35,828 BBP left in the budget, assuming $0.003583 per BBP, that comes out to:  $128.37
at a minimum to run a reddit campaign you have to do $5 budget per day,  so this could cover running a minimum campaign for 25 days

It will probably cost a little more than this since it can vary 10-20% over your budget, but Im willing to take the loss to support the project and to start the ball rolling on testing this out. (If this works out, next month's budget for this I will charge for 2 hours of my time to research, set this up and report results.)

Default they set $2 bid per 1,000 impressions, Id like to experiment with some lower bids to see how much value we can squeeze out.
Assuming $2 bid, wed only get 64k impressions, $1 bid we would get 128k impressions, etc

Good idea, voting yes. :)

It's just a shame the whole budget has already been spent with 2 whole weeks remaining until funding.

What it looks like to Desktop and Mobile Users:

===

I decided to go with my own Steemit Post vs Our Website or Bitcointalk Original Post

Also it turns out some subreddits dont have advertising?, so I am going with:
/r/Cryptocurrency, /r/CryptoMarkets and /r/Vertcoin

I could not target:  /r/altcoin, /r/groestlcoin, /r/dashpay

I am starting at $0.25 per 1,000 impressions, going to test lower prices and slowly go up in price

Ive submitted to Reddit Ads and I believe now it has to pass approval

===

Let me know if you guys have any feedback! Everything is editable

BAD NEWS:

"This email is to inform you that your creative "BiblePay #1 - Link Post - Steemit" has been rejected under campaign
"BiblePay #1 - /r/Cryptocurrency /r/CryptoMarkets /r/Vertcoin" for the following reason:

Reddit does not permit the promotion or advertisement of single securities, other tradeable financial assets, or financial advising.
This includes, but is not limited to: websites that promote cryptocurrency pre-sales, token/ICO sales and websites that offer financial advice.
"

Wow, did not know this...

Looks like Dash ran into same issue recently:
https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/google-ads-facebook-ads-reddit-ads-update-thread.24303/#post-160877
https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/google-ads-facebook-ads-reddit-ads-update-thread.24303/#post-161117

Any ideas?
Worst case Ill donate most of these funds to the Compassion Charity Fund

I feel like I keep running into walls :(
Ill keep running into them :)
but yeah this is bad, first Bitcointalk and now Reddit,
Im pretty sure Facebook banned crypto ads fairly recently as well.
Where else can we advertise? LOL

Advertising wise, Ideas/TODO:

1. Need More Graphic/Sleek Website (from user feedback, Thomas is working on this: http://forum.biblepay.org/index.php?topic=101.0)
2. Google Adwords (I think you are doing this Rob?)
2a. From the Dash posts I linked above, looks like you can still target subreddits through google through the sidebar ad
3. Bitcointalk Posts (Ive done this 3 times in the past, example: http://forum.biblepay.org/index.php?topic=68.0, please quote/bump my posts)

4. Discord (I got banned from one Discord already)
5. News/Articles (need to compile websites we can reach out to, can look at Christcoin as starting example, Ive made some posts on Steemit)
6. Youtube Videos

7. Facebook groups? (user akija sent me a list of crypto facebook groups we can post in)
8. Facebook page (Matt runs our current page: https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/7m6v7w/biblepay_facebook/, could use improvement)
9. Masternodes.Online and Masternodes.Pro (their ads are expensive!)

10. Language Translations (https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/7qmt6m/bitcointalk_main_post_language_translations/)
11. Bitcointalk Scam Posts (Im going to write about potential strategies for this, sadly shows high up in google search results)
12. Bitcointalk Original Post (Add more keywords to title, make post more streamlined, add graphics?)

Ive also left comments on Youtube videos, Articles and Reddit Posts (I did get one comment deleted on Reddit already)

Any other Advertising/Marketing ideas?

Great, looking like Google is going to Ban Cryptocurrency Ads LOL:

I didnt even get a chance to play with this yet!
