Archived Proposals / Re: Compensation for Jaap's work with BiblePay
« on: May 18, 2018, 02:17:23 AM »
Hello!
Yes I will vote yes... but you need to get this proposal submitted into the pool ASAP!
The superblock is only ~10 days away.

Thanks.

Yes, I know ,:( I don't have enough funds in the pool at the moment. I've asked Rob if he could deposit some funds in my account so that I can make some more proposals for this superblock...

I love that you are volunteering to give these children a nice trip. Do you have an overview of expenses for 2017?

Archived Proposals / Re: Biblepay Charity Commission

One of my life dreams is build a missionary trust where funds are released on a monthly or yearly basis. Whatever that value may be is irrelevant to me. Just that the trust is self-sustaining and gives (hopefully) a steady stream of funds while maintaining itself. I see Sanctuaries being able to play that role. Churches could pool to make a sanctuary and then fund the church financials or give to specific missions (charities, missionary in a specific country) to spread the great commandment in its daily form.

Mark 12 ESV 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Financials should only be a concern in that it may multiply our ability to carry out the work Jesus called us to do... not to enrich us materially. This is a harsh statement, but IMO, those that hold masternodes specifically to enrich themselves only are not aligned with the Bible.

I agree with this, and it's also why I think that having charities with their own Sanctuaries is something we should applaud at BiblePay. It's a vote of confidence. I can't wait until a charity decides to submit a proposal to buy their own Sanctuary, and I hope that more will follow.

A side-note is that BiblePay probably won't be able to sustain itself when most of Sanctuary-owners are charities.

Paradoxically, the great thing about BiblePay - in my opinion - is that it's open to profiteers. What I mean by this is that an investment in BiblePay goes hand in hand with the thought about what your personal profit actually means. What does it mean for yourself to own a Sanctuary. And this question strikes an accord with myself personally, because I will fully acknowledge that I'm partly here because I see an investment in BiblePay as an investment in my own future.

So, in conclusion, I think that in order for BiblePay to survive, I think we need both investors and charities.

1) What happens if the BBP/BTC pair rises? Is there be a mechanism for giving at steady accelerated rate versus giving spending the entire amount? Spending each month becomes a feast or famine approach. If there's a surplus, I'd be for a steady rise in giving like 5% more each month... It's a way for all organized structure to adapt to growth slowly from BBP side and charities.  If the BBP/BTC price drops, I think a similar approach of reducing payments slowly could also occur.

2) @jappgvk "is have some fixed BBP address for every charity that we are partnered with, so that people can send BBP to those addresses if they want, knowing that their BBP will go to the right place."

I agree with the idea but I also see some issues with potential fraud. Third party could advertise addresses not authorized or slightly different from the charity to siphon donations. Once you open this up, there's a lot of potential for fraud. Centralized giving in some ways is more secure.

3) I don't know what country each charity manager lives, so I'm curious what income tax reporting looks like for all three of you (compassion, cameroon, and bloom). For example, Rob A. gives to Compassion on his AmEx. Does he have to report this as personal charity giving on his income tax because he pays with his American Express. And his American Express, I'm assuming, is a personal credit card?

4) Is the BBP Foundation already a non-profit, LLC, or some sort of business entity? Is all the giving already recorded under the umbrella organization of BBP Foundation?

5) I just worry if wallets or Rob or jaap dies, the charities may miss a payment... are there recovery plans for disasters like this?

Hi LifeThruGrace,

I haven't seen you here before, so first of all: welcome and thank you for your feedback :)

1) Currently there is kind of a buffer. I think that you could say that we'd like to see at least a buffer of six months for charities. I think that - in the current climate - such a buffer would be pretty safe to market fluctuations.

2) I agree on the window for fraud. Someone could hack biblepay.org and change the addresses. I was thinking about https://www.mannabase.com/ They have a similar system where you can donate to specific causes. I guess that voting via proposals is the way to go, but apart from that, I think that donating FIAT is also a worthwhile goal to pursue for BiblePay.

3) I don't know the answer to this question, but as far as my knowledge goes Compassion, CameroonONE and BLOOM are all based in the U.S.

4) Presently BiblePay isn't any kind of business entity, although experienced people have come forward and volunteered to help BiblePay with becoming such an entity. I think that part of BiblePay will inevitably structure like such an entity in the future.

5) I can only speak for myself in this case. Concerning charities I transfer the crypto to the charity I'm helping as fast as I can (I don't like keeping funds on exchanges). Concerning my function as treasurer: people I trust have the knowledge to access my funds. Although I see that my function in BiblePay is not decentralized in any way, I would like it to be that way as fast as possible.

Can you make Magnitude 0 to 100 instead of 1,000? 0 to 100 makes more sense as a percentage than 0 to 1000. Easier to comprehend right away.

I agree with this. It's more intuitive.

Archived Proposals / Re: Crypto Bridge Exchange Listing
« on: May 17, 2018, 10:36:44 AM »
There is currently just short of 1BTC in the New Exchange Fund (I have .45BTC on my ledger and .5+ BTC on c-cex. But I still have about 170k BBP to sell, so we'll have 1+BTC for sure this month.

I will definitely vote 'yes' for this proposal. In my opinion for a coin like us it's best to bet on big potential instead of paying big for already established exchanges (although getting on a big exchange would be awesome, it just isn't realistic at this point I guess).

202
We have waited until now, and after c-cex reopening we are not in such a hurry fortunately.

I agree. I think that CryptoBridge is a fine opportunity, and waiting for another month is worth it. I guess that the announcement of getting listed there will be enough to get a positive vibe going until the actual listing.

General Discussion / Re: What is Pay to Preach?
« on: May 08, 2018, 05:15:58 AM »
Just reading back this topic and I can't believe it's already months ago that this was posted. We definitely could use some clarification on this. I asked on bitcointalk about this, but didn't really get a reply.

So "Pay To Preach" basically means: everything that has to do with spreading the Gospel where funds are a welcome thing.

So: BiblePay University, Letter Writing, Quizzes? Any more suggestions?

Paying people to talk about BiblePay (but that's maybe more PR)?

Maybe P2P and PR could be merged in the future?

Archived Proposals / Compensation for Jaap's work with BiblePay
« on: May 08, 2018, 03:05:40 AM »
Hi everyone,

Ever since I found this project I've been pretty passionate about it, and I have done a lot of work, most of which I don't think I have to explain. They include giving guidance and advice in every way possible to CameroonONE and Habib, being in several focus-groups, and right now working very hard to get our new website online.

While I see most of what I do as voluntary, and it is in my self-interest to see this coin grow since I am already invested, I also have paid others to do work for me and lately I've pretty much been working full-time on the website.

So I've decided to classify some of the things that I do as 'work' and ask the community if they want to pay me for my added value at a flat-rate of 15$/hour (which is about minimum wage in the Netherlands, where I'm from).

I'm using the current value of BBP, which is 0,0029 EURO.

I would like to receive compensation for the following things:

Proposals that I have submitted for CameroonONE (round 1 & 2), Habib (round 1&2), and the New Exchange Fund (round 1&2). From here on I will add 2500 to these proposals to compensate for the cost of submitting, but I have given all the BBP to the concerning proposals until now, so I would like to ask the community for compensation = 15.000 BBP

I had a designer design a PowerPoint-template for BiblePay for a total cost of 40 euro = 13.793 BBP

I had an external expert do research on CameroonONE for a total cost of 60 euro = 20.689 BBP

I made a PowerPoint-presentation from the ground up for Habib, which took me 8 hours x 15 = 41.379 BBP

I send Habib extra BBP to share with the people present at the presentation because he already spent everything to be able to do the things that he did = 5000 BBP

I had two conference calls to discuss the website-upgrade 4 hours in total x 15 = 20.689

I've spent 60 hours on the website thus far (may 8th) (see attachment) x 15 = 310.344 BBP

I've also been approached to be in a tv-series about cryptocurrency, where I will be representing BiblePay. If everything pans out the right way, this will give our project great exposure. I can't give you any details at this point, but I'd like to ask BiblePay for compensation because a lot of time has gone in getting this off the ground (calling, mailing, writing scripts, etc). I would like to ask the community to compensate me for the time spent on this. Until today (may 8th), I have spent about 20 hours on this x 15 = 103.448 BBP

So in total, that's: 509.673 BBP

I will aks for this compensation from the IT-budget (since the website is the majority of the proposal), although it could also be PR. Or I could also make two separate proposals. This is just a pre-proposal to ask the community what they think about it. After receiving feedback, I will go ahead and submit the proposal.

Thanks!

Jaap

Great plan, and an easy 'yes'. Thanks :)

206
Thank you very much!  :D Of course, I will continue to participate in the project. For me, a lot of work ahead: it is necessary to improve the design and improve the translation. I also started to create a Russian community and promote the project on the local land.

If the Lord bless, we will become better than bitcoin. My dream is that as many Christians as possible benefit from this project. Perhaps the Lord in this way will help the faithful stand and not take the mark of the beast.

I think that the wallet looks really, really nice already! Thank you for your effort and I can't wait to see what improvements you can make.

I do have one remark, but I don't know it it's really relevant: I'm using a remote connection to one of the PC's that has my wallet, and the screen has a resolution of 1024 x 768. When I'm in the 'overview screen' the transaction amounts are outside of the screen. I can see them when I'm in the 'transactions screen', so it's not a problem. Just wanted to let you know :)

Anyway this is an easy 'yes' from me!

Archived Proposals / Re: Revamping BiblePay university (P2P)

I read your post on bitcointalk. if it's technically possible to reward people BBP when linking to that site, then I'm all for. But I'm not a developer, so it's not really my field :)

208
Yeah, but the 2500BBP need to be in your pool-account. It's currently not yes possible to deposit into the pool, that's why Rob will do it for you if you give him your pool account-name :)

Btw, great work on the theme!
