Title: Should we Re-Enable our Anti-Bot-Net Feature in Prod (ABN)
Post by: Rob Andrews on June 28, 2019, 04:56:13 PM
The ABN feature reduces the liklihood of bot-net mining activity against BiblePay.

Rob wants to ensure Security is maintained and our difficulty level never falls below 5000.

Should we re-enable ABN in small steps, starting with a 1,000 BBP requirement?

Then, if difficulty remains > 5000, we can increase our ABN requirement in steps weekly maintaining diff around 10K or more.

My only comment Rob would be that I would prefer to err on the side of caution and initial set the required  BBP amount a little higher than 1K. Obviously this could be adjusted at anytime but the concern to avoid a fork is real and I for one would prefer to see 10K as a starting point for safety. Just my 2 cents on this.

i think we will be fine with 32k, to cover 205 blocks, only 6.5m is needed so we will have any block covered multiple times

Average difficulty last 1000 blocks is 4.3k

286 blocks out of 1000 had difficulty greater than 5k.

I wonder if it is time to consider raising the abn weight requirement from 125k to 250k.

Since greater abn weight will encourage more hodling this will:

1) encourage more bbp purchases from exchange,
2) better payout for miners & masternodes,

3) discourage bot net even further
