Is BiblePay Unchained hosting files on Amazon S3 regions only (up to 4)? https://wiki.biblepay.org/Using_Unchained

I recall you had CloudFlare at some point and before that we had IPFS node we could run ourselves to support the BiblePay file hosting network.

The sanctuaries sync the sidechain metadata (this points a BBP transaction to a BIPFS transactionID), and the data itself (the file data is on S3).  (Until the day we have a multicity s3-raid drive created by multiple sanctuaries).

Hosting the files ourselves is not really a viable option - except for small amounts - since a 40gb sanctuary is not going to put a dent in the storage reqs.  We have 16 terabytes of Christian content already, and this way S3 can handle an influx of large storage reqs.

With Unchained, today in production, you can upload a 400 meg video through biblepay, and pay for it, and it will successfully host for a year over multiple regions.

At the end of Sep 2019, BiblePay donated over $194k to charities...

https://whitewalr.us/2019/biblepay-charity-donations.html

I was looking at the Foundation. Type CR means the "income" BiblePay Foundation earned. And Type DR means the donations it made to the various non-profits?

So total donated is $227k as of June 2020?

Yes, we have donated a total of $227K to charity as of June 2020, $227K of actual expenses.

The DR's are debits (actual expenses), and the CR's are credits.

The CR's for the most part used to be BBP monthly liquidations (like when we paid compassion from BBP->BTC->USD).
(Of course with XMR we now have 200-300$ per month credit coming in from that revenue stream).

I did think what would happen during the tribulation and would Amazon survive. So many web sites depend on Amazon, I'm sure they'd work very hard keeping things going. I also read they wanted to be carbon neutral by 2040 which means part of their infrastructure will run on renewable energy which means even if the power grid goes down, the data center could use renewables to perhaps run in a degraded if not fully operational mode.

Nowadays, I hear there are many S3 clones that offer discounted pricing as well.

Yeah, the mandatory upgrade is close to being released.  So you didn't actually miss it.

Let me post the wiki for POOS, and, please check back in a couple hours and I'll post the mandatory upgrade info, etc.

Here is the POOS payment page:
https://wiki.biblepay.org/Sanctuary_Child_Sponsorship

I will create a page for the September mandatory upgrade.

How should I know how much BBP should I donate, every month, in order to sponsor one child per one Sanctuary?
Can this be auto-donation for all my sanctuaries, or should I donate manually ?

You can work directly with cameroon-one to sponsor one orphan per sanctuary:

Hey all!

Sorry for the inconvenience, but on this mandatory upgrade, we need to make a small change.

It turns out, this version introduces a change to our voting protocol, and we must switch this particular field over in a synchronized way (otherwise we can introduce a voting problem between tomorrow and September 1st).

Please keep your eyes peeled for a new upgrade, we will announce it soon.

I see the withdraw went out fine:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/bbp/tx.dws?747ca3aa5361e28051e94ad56208ac882bd0ef0d42c9980d53dae86c56ff2e6b.htm

Chainz upgraded to 1.5.2.1 on time so it should be there on chainz.

It is showing on my local node also (which I just upgraded to 1.5.2.2) but we are still on 1.5.2.1 rules regardless so it should be there - it looks like a local issue on your machine - try 'getrawtransaction txid 1' to make sure.

I do see something interesting in the pool though, I see we do not show the user the TXID but a guid instead.  I just changed that in the pool to show the TXID starting now.

Hey Rob,

I am trying to update explorer,

Looks like Linux wallet download link changed

From:
Code: [Select]
https://biblepay.org/biblepayd-evo-x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz
To:
Code: [Select]
https://biblepay.org/biblepay-lin64.zip
I had to run:  apt install unzip
so that I can unzip it

When trying to run ./biblepayd I get this error message:
Code: [Select]
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.27` not found (required by ./biblepayd)
I am running Ubuntu 16.04 on Vultr
I usually compile from source for the explorer but was running into an error I couldnt get past and went the pre-compiled route

I was able to compile from source on another machine that is Ubuntu 18.04

Does this mean we need to use Ubuntu 18.04 for BiblePay now?

I used these commands to upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04
https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-upgrade-ubuntu-16-04-to-18-04-lts-using-terminal/

I seem to be able to run the pre-compiled ./biblepayd now!

So we will want to primarily give $40 equiv to Cameroon-One, one way or another per month, and, alternatively you can pay for a whole quarter optionally (or any number of months in advance if you want).

What I recommend is doing the conversion based off of coinmarketcap when you pay, then shoot them [and email with the] TXID first for that amount then send them your sanc-pub-key and duration in it - something like this:

I am paying for Sanctuary NNNNN, for 60 days, an amount of $80, in BBP amount of XXXXXXXX under TXID yyyyyyyyyyy.

Then Todd will credit your sanctuary for 2 months in the case above.  If someone sends the wrong amount I believe he will reply and say this does not cover 60 days, etc.
