C++ Blockchain Developer Recruiting 2 (Door to Door Github)
« on: January 30, 2018, 04:40:01 PM »
Since finding experienced blockchain developers is actually very hard, (My Previous Recruiting work: http://forum.biblepay.org/index.php?topic=85.0)

I propose that we go through the githubs of all the cryptocurrency projects and contact each contributor one by one.
Basically contacting everyone who is already a blockchain developer.

===

I would work my way down the list of coinmarketcap: https://coinmarketcap.com/
and then find a way to contact each developer (email, twitter, blog, etc) [Note: Github doesnt have a messaging system]

I dont have a time estimate on this, its an unknown, Ill report back as I do a couple hours here and there.
Im not sure how effective this will be either, we may contact hundreds of devs and only get 1 or 2 that are interested, but it might be totally worth it.

Its very important that we find interested developers to work on BiblePay features, security, bugs, etc
especially since Rob right now is basically a solo developer, if he gets ill or hit by a bus, the project could potentially stagnate, lose momentum or lose value.

Ive also thought about finding failed crypto projects, but I assume most of those are just clones of coins and probably dont have higher quality devs, but its another option to think about.

Ill probably document everything in a google excel sheet

I too believe this is a priority, but may I suggest what I think could also be viable and less spammy? Posting a GitHub job here:
https://jobs.github.com/

I think it gives a pretty good exposure, but the downsides are: cost of $450 and the people viewing the ad are probably not as targeted as you would target them by manually searching.

And I think your door to door search could be really good in some aspects, but on the other hand I'm not sure why would someone have the time or will to join another project if they are already in one, unless it's a failed one, but that doesn't give me much confidence.

I've noticed that you were searching at UpWork and other websites, but you didn't put up an actual job offer, right? I would definitely try that. Also, here are some other websites I think are worth posting an offer to:
https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/
https://stackoverflow.com/jobs
https://www.freelancer.com/

Hey inblue, I hope as BiblePay coin value goes up, we can afford more jobs ads and higher rate to pay interested devs.

zthomas had idea of breaking up the work into smaller units and contracting out that work, he seems to have some good experience with freelancer

I spent 2 hours 2 weeks ago and got all of the contact information on the top ~50 bitcoin developers (a lot of them have started other cryptocurrency projects, a couple are totally anonymous), I figured out a neat way to get their email addresses, of those 50, there were only 2 I couldnt get email addresses for and a couple I skipped because they were totally anonymous.

Also because Im in a few other coins Discords, I was able to get in contact with a blockchain developer that left a project, he seemed somewhat interested in ours but is taking a break for now.

Ill try and finish up the Bitcoin dev contact gathering, and then send them all emails and then report back here a week after that, I assume alot of these Bitcoin guys get spammed a lot, depending on how this goes then Ill jump on the next coins
