« on: September 07, 2018, 10:29:38 AM »
Running the explorer.biblepay.org server costs $40/month (Vultr 4 CPU server)

I am requesting $40 for month of September
at $0.000580 per BBP that is 68,965 BBP

I was previously funded $80 for July and August

You also have a nice 4 core / 14GB for 12€ ($13.89) at Contabo

https://contabo.com/?show=vps

I have a 2 core vps for a BTC/LND node and no issues so far.

Oh, how cool that you are busy with LND! I messed around with it on testnet some months ago. Are you using it on mainnet?

About the proposal Togo: of course I will vote 'yet' (if the budget will allow it).

Is it easy to use credit card to pay European companies? (Im in USA)

I just use Vultr since its what Ive been using from the beginning, my masternodes, testnet, and podc are also on Vultr.

Im totally open to use a cheaper service though, Im just not sure which one

If anyone is interested in taking over running the explorer, Ill gladly pass the torch :)

My apologies for the armchair quarterbacking. I think there is some potential for monthly hosting cost... would need to consider the HDD vs SSD as I'm not familiar with how much disk is required to run an explorer. I imagine searching on one address is not cached, so the raw performance from SSD it way better than HDD. If I run across a host that offers similar specs, I'll pass it on to you Togo. We'll test and if it is on par or better, let's consider moving servers at a later point.

No worries at all sun! I am always open to feedback, and saving $20/month for 12 months is $240/year that could go towards other projects. We should always be looking for ways to save and maximize our budget.

I think I started off with AWS for cloud server because of prior experience and brand name, but they werent cost effective

Ive seen Vultr mentioned a lot in other masternode coins, and masternodes.pro had them as their main advertising banner, and Rob recommended them as well. So I was basically sold haha.

Is there an easy way to profile/track disk usage?

I believe the whole blockchain transaction history gets loaded and stored into MongoDB, I assume it probably all fits into RAM (my blocks folder on windows is only ~660MB)

The reason for upgrading was CPU getting maxed out, the explorer is multithreaded:
