Hello Radar.
I still have not received any test mail from you, im thinking perhaps something is wrong with your setup.
What mail client are you using and biblepay wallet version?
You can test send mail to me at : [email protected] and Robs mail is: [email protected]
Have a good one.
Earl & Rob-
Thanks for the updates on the email thing. I am currently using 1.5.4.5 - I upgraded just before I sent that email to you, Earl. I tried again today to send an email to Rob, but only got the error again. When I sent the email to Earl last week, the wallet told me that ~100 BBP was used to send the email and that was it. I did the same to send my self a message, the money was spent and I received an email back from myself.

I am using Thunderbird from Mozilla. I didn't want to get into the mess of setting up Outlook, so I went simple. However, I am apparently still not communicating.

I just sent myself another test message. ~102 BBP came out of my wallet and I received it back to myself shortly thereafter. I sent yet another message to you, Earl, with ~100 BBP out of my wallet to send it. This all took place at 1522 EST today.

Part of it worked, except trying to send. Here is what I got:
I was able to send myself a test email. It went out immediately. I have not yet received it through the mail client.

Good morning Radar and God bless you.  TGIF.   Watching FlashPoint news now and they are trying to pass some bad Christian bills in the senate.

Anyway on this port thing, first, after you boot biblepay-qt up on your lan, you can do this test from windows to know your biblepay wallet is listening:
telnet localhost 30110  (or 30025) and make sure it answers.  If it does not it might be that your local firewall is on and maybe a rule needs added for that?
Ive also ran my biblepay remotely and it works that way also; for instance I ran my biblepay in my VM, and it has a different IP, and from my mail client, I enter the IP of the VM for the mail host (instead of 127.0.0.1).
To find out, just do the same telnet test until you get an answer from the machine where your mail client is running.  Im using outlook 2016 for example.  Weve also tested Thunderbird and Outlook-windows-10 builtin.  Im not sure if MIP has tested the built in MAC version yet.

Anyway, the main reason we use the 30110 instead of 110 is if we were to use a port number below 110, then you have to run the program as root.  Most users are uncomfortable running the coin-wallet as root (at least in linux) so that alleviates that.  However we do have a key if you want it to be the standard port, "smtpport=25" and "pop3port=110" for example will do that.  In addition Ive found some unix boxes are already listening on one of those ports and this prevents collisions.

The ports do automatically open on boot.
Let me know if you still have problems.

EDIT: As far as user and pass, you can use your bbp nickname as the user, and anything for the pass (security is still maintained due to the way it works locally only).

For those who have upgraded, I just upgraded my main home machine and made it my biblepay inbox.

Could someone send me a biblepay core email please?

My e-mail address is :  [email protected]
You must send it from the BiblePay-QT client (and you must have a user record saved).  (Please see the mandatory upgrade pop3/smtp wiki page to set it up).  I found a quirk that we need to fix.  So let me explain how to get started in BBP-Tribulation:

1) Create your user record by navigating to "User Record". You really only need to save your nickname, and be sure to check the box that says 'allow bbp to charge me e-mail fees'.  Populate those two things then click SAVE.
2) After a few blocks, reboot the QT wallet.  (This is the quirk - it needs restarted to read in your user record key.  (We coded to prevent this, but my 'read' code didnt work apparently and in testnet we didnt notice that it didnt work because we rebooted the wallet during testing)).
3) Once restarted you should see your user record in the user record page.  You will see your e-mail address is '[email protected]'.
4) Now you can send me an e-mail or each other e-mails.  Lets test in prod to ensure everything works!

Good morning, all and TGIF!

New problem - I cannot get my email client to recognize the biblepay.qt LAN address. I have tried the local address (same machine = 127...1) and the IP address from my router.

Also, just to confirm - my password for my email account is my user Nickname. Is that correct? Thank you all.

Can I get some tech help here? I have set up email clients before. Also, can you tell me why I am using 30110 and 30025 versus the actual ports? Do they automatically open if I want to use them? Yes, this is my personal laptop I am using.

Once a few blocks pass and you go back in that page, the internal email address should change to yournickname @ biblepay.core.  Plus be sure to reboot the wallet once for it to take effect.

Rob - all is well. I opened up the wallet this evening and found it exactly like you said it would be. I will work on the IMAP/POP client tomorrow and get you a test message ASAP. God bless!

Hey Rob, et al.

I tried to set up "My User Record" today. I followed the directions at https://wiki.biblepay.org/Decentralized_Email
When I clicked "save", I realized that my Internal email address was still sitting at N/[email protected]. Is that right?

I will hopefully have an email client set up soon and will send an email out to you, once I allow enough time for three blocks to go by.

Hey all.

I just upgraded to 1.5.4.4. I am not sure if this is me, or if this is an issue across the board - but my wallet has been trying to sync with the network for a long time now and is stuck at "2 minutes behind". Is this one of those times I need to re-sync the blockchain record? Thanks for the help!
I think I answered my own question. I went into Tools and performed the "Wallet Repair / Rebuild Index" option. I am now tracking and fully sync'd. God bless you all.

Hi, me again. Quick question for you. I've been watching other cryptocurrencies swing up and down over the past few weeks, some wildly. BBP has stayed the same throughout the entire time. What is BBP tied to that keeps it so stable? Or, is it that it is not tied to anything? Just wondering.

Good morning, all.

I have been utilizing the Foundation's link to the "XMR Inquiry" to see where I am in regards to the hashpower and wallet that my CPUs are rendering. That link has been updated by Monero (I think) and no longer works within the Foundation site. Can I please get some guidance on this? Thank you and God bless.

Good Morning Radar,
Its not disabled but just overlimit currently.  It will recover eventually (IE within 20-60 days depending on what stakes are being paid).  In the mean time we can use help in testnet as we are mulling UTXO staking to replace DWS which would never get oversaturated.

Hi Rob. Thanks for the info. When you say you can use some help in TestNet - how exactly do you mean? Do you need hashpower (point one of my resources to a different IP), or do you need people to use a test wallet, or both?

Good morning, all.

Is the Dynamic Whale Stake option turned off right now? I tried to create a large one and a small one and was told that the DWU was too low to create a burn. Any help is appreciated!

Aye i read that to..  Cant say im very mutch surprised  i mean with the bounty that  IRS put on monero and what not.

Response to that i think monero atomic swap is a great idea. No need for exchange anymore when/if they implement and make it functional.   Could be intresting for bbp aswell.
Hey Earl. Can you please be more specific with IRS and Monero? I have been mining XMR for over a year now, though I used most of my earnings for Bitcoin a few months ago. Thanks!

We will also be rolling out RSA keys for each user, and these public keys will also be stored in the user record.  This will allow Encrypted DMs and encrypted emails.  Note that the data stored in the chain cannot be read by ANYONE except the recipient!  Whats nice about encrypted DM, is we will be able to leap along with the signal protocol (with all of the features of signal-dm), and do more than they can do, simply because you will not need a keyexchange or a trusted third party.

Are the RSA keys part of what we're already using with the MS Authenticator on this site? Or, is this new infrastructure you will have to build into the BBP server farm? The reason I ask is that RSA appliances aren't cheap, nor are the hard tokens. Soft tokens are less so, but still demand maintenance and monitoring. PGP worked pretty well for most messaging uses, but not allowed outside of the US. Wondering if you're thinking of other technologies?
God bless! RD
