Rob, all I really care about is increasing number of conversions/investors for BiblePay,
I believe my design is better than your current design in that regard

Please merge my design based on its own merits
and not judge or block using it because of whatever drama is in that thread

Interesting, so I pointed out a couple flaws in your thread and you are basically saying "I think they should be there".

1.   Do you then think your lack of moderating it is correct, to leave the mean spirited comments in and allow it to stay unmoderated, while accusing me of bad moderation in the same thread?

2.  Do you mean you will resist my suggestion to rename your thread as supporter, as it is drawing potential investors over to the non official thread and confusing them?

Archived Proposals / Re: Use Discourse as Main Forum
« on: December 13, 2018, 01:37:31 PM »
Hey Rob, thank you for your valuable feedback on this

On the topic of change, I personally get attached to original GUIs,
for instance, I still used the original BiblePay wallet theme for a loooong time before finally switching to the bezaleel theme,
and I got upset when Gmail forced new GUI on me haha

Forum wise, I like SMF / phpBB layout vs the Discourse layout, the discourse layout is weird, I like what Im used to

But I do like this quote: "The only constant is change"
https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Heraclitus

=

Comparison of Internet forum software
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Internet_forum_software

=

Proposal wise, I agree this proposal lacks any funding,
its more of a "Should we use Discourse over SMF?", I probably should have worded it that way or started it as a pre-proposal,
I think Im trying to push consensus through now vs letting it sit for months in discussions

Im not sure what an accurate time estimate is, but it only took me about 2-3 hours to set everything up,
for switching over, add an hour to switch DNS records,  add in hours for migrating accounts/threads/posts
and add in hours for learning a new system, and add in buffer for unknowns
I think the 80 hours estimate is very high, maybe 20-30 hours combined would be my estimate

=

Also, any time Ive spent on this Im donating to BiblePay
Im cool with whatever decision gets made, just offering this as an interesting alternative

I agree on almost all of the above points and discourse doesnt look too bad, especially if PIVX uses it.

However on this one:
"Im not sure what an accurate time estimate is, but it only took me about 2-3 hours to set everything up,
for switching over, add an hour to switch DNS records,  add in hours for migrating accounts/threads/posts
and add in hours for learning a new system, and add in buffer for unknowns
I think the 80 hours estimate is very high, maybe 20-30 hours combined would be my estimate"

I agree with the 20-30 hours for migration tasks other than migrating the entire forum content.
I make the assumption that (not knowing which method we would use to move the data), that we would not move to an empty discourse forum.  IE that we did already manually create the old topics and threads and configure the software (in X hours or so) I assume we still need to move some data.  The rest of this time was a guess on  my part for migrating the data.  I don't know if a data migrator exists or not (from SMF to discourse).  This is basically padding the estimate to ensure TheSnat would want to entrench himself in this endeavor.

Im neutral on this subject- so I think we should let thesnat weight in more on this as I feel we would be pushing the lions share of work over to him if we switch to discourse.  (Especially if he is willing to be hosting the forum etc).  He might be working on POG PHP pages, or proposal enhancements, or wanting to run a copy of dashninja (we should consider calling that BiblePayRabbi if we ever do that) etc.  I would like to see how he would like to spend his next 6 month time.  If he wants to push this off and still do it later please let us know Snat.

Please don't test this new version 1.1.6.4 - I found a bug.

Will need a new release.

Question to the user who crashed, did you crash with 0 blocks in the chain?  If so I reproduced and fixed that in 1164, if not let us know how to reproduce.

Makes sense Rob. Fro. The consumer side I'd prefer to Max tithe with very little change left over.  With the exec bankroll feature and some small change amounts, it may be a moot point.

Also, I'm confused by pog reward amounts.

One new wallet never tithed (too new) but I've been receiving pog rewards.

And then other times pog reward goes to non-tithe address. Is pog reward actually mined reward?

I was just looking at some of my POG rewards and I think I might know why you think some are mining that are POG.
First, if it says "POG REWARD" regardless of the amount it should be an actual POG.  The ones that say "MINED" are the reaper payments.

The confusing part:  If you are in a payment tier that pays 100%, that reaper reward is like 100 bbp and You as pog recipient get a massive amount, like 4000, making it look like a mining payment but it is really a pool payment.  This happens if that block didnt have a sanc payment on it.

1.1.6.4d-Mandatory Upgrade for TestNet

- Fixed bug in tithe inductor
- Add ability to force a tithe in (for people who want to donate to foundation regardless of diff) - the tithe doesnt count in the pool - this is in sendcoins UI
- Added exec istithelegal txid - Allows a user to verify a tithes legality - good for debugging purposes
- Modified exec tithe amount - To also accept just the amount.

Note that this version will disconnect older clients, so please, everyone upgrade.
Since this version considers a block before 1164 a bad block, we will need to do quite a bit of resyncing to agree, please lets check our blockhash.

The new wallet might be mining and reaping (solving the block itself).  If it didnt tithe, it cant receive pool rewards unless you copied the wallet (I hope no one is copying wallets in testnet however because that would really make it hard for us, we should all be using distinct wallets with distinct addresses and nicknames in testnet so we can reconcile everything).

The pog reward should only go to the TITHE address (its stored in the tithe), so you are probably referring to a mining reward.

To see what a tx is actually composed of just double click it in QT in the recieving list and look for the vout number.  A vout[0] means mining reward.  A vout[1] is usually masternode reward (or pool reward).  vout[2+] is a POG pool reward.

Also, is pog reward a block that can process other transactions like Joe sending bbp to an exchange?

The POG reward is a coinbase, so it takes 120 confirms to become spendable (just like mining revenue).

On a side note, all the pool rewards for one block are contained in one transaction.

Should I report issues or wait for new version?

Please wait, I believe we have to re-test everything in this new version as we now use a new more reliable method to induct legal tithes into the pool from the block.  Also, all prior versions had a bug in the actual CoinValue of the difficulty (it was off by COIN - a constant in the code), so yeah we need to re-test everything.

So Im thinking on our newer testing, we should do a limited number of tithes, like say 10 for example, and write them down in notepad with the block number (IE total amount and block number).  Then sit back and see exactly how many were inducted and exactly what rewards occur in 205 blocks.  This will give us a very accurate picture if 100% of the tithes are going in the pool, and the ratio of rewards per tithe BBP.

On a side note I added a new feature called 'exec istithelegal txid' - you can use this to test a tithe.

Thanks Rob! I hope that you are doing well. You are in my thoughts.

I just realized something really stupid! In the spreadsheet I didn't yet factor in the leftover BBP from the airdrop and the hardcopy guide budget. (I'm not the most organized person in the world :p) That in total is about 340k BBP. See the threads here:

https://forum.biblepay.org/index.php?topic=120.msg4568#msg4568

Let's cross that off against each other and call it a day.

So please everyone: downvote my proposal for this month! As far as I'm concerned I'm compensated enough for the coinexchange listing.

Thanks a lot Jaap, and I pray your health is improving.

I worked on BiblePay approx. 120 hours in September (primarily on creating a Business Object, an RSA keypair, and the ability to send and receive objects from IPFS).

This equals $4800 or 13MM bbp.

Capping at 2 MIL in case we have other dev proposals this month.

Archived Proposals / Compassion Dec 2018 Recurring Sponsorships
« on: December 12, 2018, 10:51:24 AM »
So let us all exercise a small recap with compassion.

After the HODL crash we decreased our child count to 100 (this is approx $3800 per month for 100 children).

We received a credit from compassion for the cancelled 229 memberships (and our revenue and expense records in IPFS and SQL match to the penny regarding the cancellation date and amount in which this credit took effect).

To see the state of our compassion credit balance as of 10-20-2018:
http://pool.biblepay.org/SAN/expenses/BiblePay_audit_2018.pdf

We had a credit of -$25,404.00 at that time.  I've been monitoring the situation to see how quickly we have been burning through the credit and approx at what date we will need to cancel more children.

Based on my projection we are down to -17804 as of this month (anticipating our normal monthly charge hitting around the 20th) meaning that we are down to a 4 month buffer.

I think in the spirit of our normal 6 month buffer we should be looking at canceling 50 more children in approx 60 days, if things dont improve.

As far as this months request, remember, last month we had such a terrible month we only gave $5 to 65% of our children (and requested a tiny 1 mil budget), and in light of that I have no choice to request approx. 6 mil bbp (as to not consume the entire charity budget) but we need to attempt to put a dent in this months amount owed of $3,800.00.

Therefore I request 6 mil this month.

Note that anyone can view the actual expenses and revenue by clicking "Accountability" in the pool.
