« on: January 31, 2018, 04:51:30 PM »
Can someone please direct me to the most up-to-date resource for setting up a BiblePay masternode. I have never done this before so some assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

B

Welcome :)

If you like, post a link to a website that has the type of "playful" aspects you're referring to and I'll check it out.

Yeah, sure :) Maybe not the best example, but the ethereum site has a bit of what I mean:
https://ethereum.org/

But looking at it again, I think I actually prefer the professional look of your sites, haha!

Thanks for the link Laurie :) And adrianbits is a sour person, don't know why...

Togo, if you ever get an approval, I'll look at the banner. Just let me know.

I think it's good to have a safer and more streamlined site :)

Do you have any design ideas? In my view, the site has all the information, but it's a little cluttered. Your examples seem professional btw, although I would like to see that the biblepay site has a bit more 'playful' feel. I don't really know how to explain it, dynamic menus and graphics that move a little when scrolling.

If you want to give it a shot I am happy to take a step back.  :)

That being said, if you ever need help with graphics for anything ~ let me know, I would be happy to help!

Well, you're the one with experience (I have some experience with photoshop, but not with e-commerce), so I think it's more efficient if you do it. I consider myself more of a backup plan :p But if you don't really have the time or anything, just let me know :)

I donated 50.000 BBP to an address Tom gave me  :)

Maybe Laurie wants to do it? If he or she steps back, I might it a shot. Shouldn't be much work, and I have the same view as Laurie: I wouldn't need a proposal and profits go to the orphan fund.

Maybe there is also a way to integrate it into the pool shop?

Fox hasn't responded to my message, so I guess I'm gonna do this on my own. I have no idea what I have to do though. Does someone know what the requirements for the banner are, or where I can find them?

I shall than adjust the banner to make sure it's ready when needed.

Thank you for your insightful answers April. I can really see the added value a good PR-person can bring to this project.

About BiblePays 'hook': I think this is indeed a difficult question to answer, because we are trying to be a lot of things at the same time, but who knows how it all shall evolve. I think primarily, we are a combination of an investment and a charity, with the core of it being that our governing is decentralised.

I like the idea West stated in another thread, about forming a sort of 'Foundation'. It kinda maybe defeats the purpose of the whole 'being decentralised', but it would really give us something palpable in the world.

I'm just thinking out loud here, but to me, it's maybe a 'feel good investment' to be involved in BiblePay. But I can also see why such a PR wouldn't really work, because it could maybe be seen as making money off of starving children (being really morbid here). I would like it if biblepay could in the future be it's own charity, while also being a good investment, and that people investing are incentivised to give part of their earnings (mining, masternodes, transaction costs etc) to the charity-fund, so there is a continues mutual growth.

i guess that paying directly to charities is more efficient, but I also think that BiblePay has the power to reach people that would otherwise would not give much money to charity.

If we really want the IT integration, maybe we could fund the development of something that any charity could just install to do  to integrate with us?

Great idea!

And April: I'm sure Rob can clarify what he said. I find it sometimes difficult to communicate online, and it can be hard to get a clear picture of someone. I can also sometimes be wary of the motivations of people online. It can be hard when you don't see someone in person. But I'm sure it will work out.

In my view, we should start slow, and be thankful for every new potential partner, and definitely don't have to ask time and recources consuming requirements from the get go. That's why I really like the  idea of developing a stand alone program that can help charities integrate into BiblePay.

Either make it non-profit (by reducing the margin to zero or by donating the profits in their entirety to the Orphan Fund) in which case I'd be inclined to vote in favor of, or run it for-profit, use our logo without fee and charge enough to make it worth your while so as to not require funding.

I agree with this. I also responded in the original reddit thread and have been following this discussion (I follow absolutely everything on biblepay, I just don't always reply, sometimes because of time-limitations, sometimes because I don't feel I can make a worthwhile contribution to what has already been said).

While I think it's sad that ALT-J has left, I also questioned his motives in the reddit-thread. Asking money for something you are already making (very easy) money on, especially when you take future sales into account, just seemed a little bit off for me. I think every proposal should be weighed carefully in terms of pro's and con's independently of the amount of BBP asked, and I think this is a big part of being a sanctuary-owner is about.

I agree that some proposals and suggestions get very few responses, but at the same time I'm happy that the responses we do get, are mostly of high quality.

fox was also okay with someone taking his work and running with it,
so fox doesnt neccessairly have to be in the loop per se

This was the 1st banner that was rejected for being a full image: http://fozy.altervista.org/banner.html
But it looks a lot nicer then the current CSS one: http://fozy.altervista.org/bbp-banner.html

Thanks! I've contacted fox and will post updates when needed :)

Archived Proposals / Re: BiblePay & CameroonONE
« on: January 21, 2018, 01:46:21 PM »
I have reviewed the finances and legitimacy of CameroonOne together with my brother (who had a masters degree in international politics, and has a management position in a charitable organisation). I absolutely vouch for BiblePay to start teaming up with CameroonOne.

Although we currently have Compassion as our prime charitable cause, I think CameroonOne is a worthy supplement. I've been talking to Todd for a while now and his organisation is taking a route concerning orphans that is absolutely needed in the current situation in Cameroon. Orphanages are overcrowded and/or corrupt, and by placing orphans with surviving family members they not only solve the problem with the orphanages, but also give the children a chance to grow up in the most supportive surroundings.

CameroonOne is also interested in incoperating the workflow we have currently with Compassion. That means that we will be able to send en receive letters to the orphans that we sponsor, and this can possible take place via an API that can be implemented in our pool.

Rob has suggested (and I concur) that we start with the sponsorship of two orphans with CameroonOne as a 'trial', so we can find out together if we can make some good things happen :)

My suggestion would be to pay the premiums of these orphans for a year into the future (the costs of this are projected to be around 300 dollars per year per orphan), and see how it goes from there.

I hope that BiblePay and CameroonOne have a future together, and we can help eachother grow.
