Hello there.
I am running linux Ubuntu 16.04. I have downloaded and installed Biblepay OK. The GUI works and solo mining works.

I have registered with the mining pool but when I try to add the pool port etc in the terminal I can't save it. When I look on the GUI and check poolmininginfo it says idle so obviously it is not working.

Any help will be appreciated, esp. step by step because I am not too familiar with programming etc.

Many thanks Veggieman

Welcome Veggieman!

Although I'm also quite new to all this, I'll try and help you as best as I can.

I presume that you used Togo's excellent guide, that you can find here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/6ummuj/how_to_mine_biblepay_on_linux/

Under the pool header, you can find these instructions:
Code: [Select]
POOL
1. Set up an account on pool website: https://pool.biblepay.org/
2. Create Worker Username(s) - Workers tab >>> Add
3. Enable pool and add Worker Username in ~/.biblepaycore/biblepay.conf file, add these lines and save:

poolport=80
pool=http://pool.biblepay.org
workerid=insertWorkerUsernameHere

I guess you're stuck at step 3?
You say "I can't save it". What do you mean exactly? How do you open the biblepay.conf file? You could for example try:
Code: [Select]
cd ~/.biblepaycore
nano biblepay.conf

Try and save it after filling in the pool data.

After that, you should restart the wallet and start mining with the command:
Code: [Select]
setgenerate true 1(The '1' can be adjusted, depending on cpu-amount you want to devote to mining. I add up the threads on my miners, and fill in that amount instead of '1'. So, if I have 8 threads I just fill in: 'setgenerate true 8'.

Hope this helps a bit. If not, just let me know where you're stuck :)

When you change the file,  hit Ctrl-X and it will prompt to save, it's ok to overwrite the file.

To make it take effect, you'll have to restart your miner.  So go back to /home/<user>/biblepay/src and ./biblepay-cli stop, then ./biblepayd -daemon.

If it's still not showing when you ./biblepay-cli mininginfo, then try ./biblepay-cli generate true 4.  Then see if it is working.

Hello everyone

I'm new to all this so please be gentle with me :)

I have had a lot of trouble getting started mining, well I think that's what I am doing now. I have two question as below, any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Do I still need to keep setting the miner for the Test network or can it be left on the Main one ?

2. do the lines of code below look correct ?

I dont know why you mine in the testnet, but all you need is the Setup for the Main-Net.

Thats realy easy. Go to the Miner-Tab in the Pool-Interface an click on "Add". Thats it. The same like for your first Worker.

Best regards
Sebastian

Thank you Sebastian for answering, I can feel a lot better now when I leave it mining unattended knowing that I am actually doing something right :)

When you can see your worker in the Landing-Page of pool(2).biblepay.org under "my Leaderboard", everything would be fine!

Yes I can see my worker on there, the question I had about a second worker was regarding as to how I add it to the code as in the example below

workerid=madmurphy1

would it be

workerid=madmurphy1,madmurphy2

or another way ?

Maybe i dont understand the Question (My english is horrible^^), but i think it is not possible to mine with more then one worker in the same wallet.
I think you have a second Computer and trying to setup the mining there.

What is the reason to add a second worker? You cant get faster or something like this...

Your English is just fine Sebastian I can assure you it is a lot better than my German would be. The reason I asked about the second worker is because I saw the option of adding a second worker and just wondered if it was possible to use it along side my first worker. But now you mention it I can see the logic that it would be no faster with my one pc  and the second pc would be needed.

You are absolutly right. The thing with the second worker within one config-file is useless i think...

Nice to meet u and: you are welcome <3

You can have multiple workers but it is intended that you set them up on the pool website and then run each computer on a different worker ID.  That said, all computers CAN share the same worker ID, but I'd imagine declaring two ID's on one computer would likely confuse the system and kick you into Solo Mining.

Hi could someone please clarify the correct config commands for solo mining

On the official mining guide it says:

addnode=node.biblepay.org
gen=1
genproclimit=1

on other forum posts it says:

gen=1
genproclimit=1

is the addnode necessary?  Does it do it do anything? or was it part of an older wallet version?
